On the other hand, one key feature of a mayor (or treasurer or other key civic leader) has to be concern for what is in the best interests of the city they serve. To that end, perhaps the elected officials, if they cannot allocate city monies out to where they will be immediately effective, could dig into their own pockets to fund things privately (e.g. URM) that cannot be funded publicly. I'm not talking about a showy, one-time donation of a couple of thousand dollars. I'm talking about consistent donations or allocations on a monthly or quarterly basis to the front-line organizations who are working to stop the bleeding of this very wounded city. <br /><br />I can't find the appropriate 'comment as' category.
